Kendal sits just 5 miles from the border of the Lake District National Park, and boasts easy access to lakes, fells and fantastic climbing routes.

Kendal is a vibrant market town and home to the world famous Kendal Mint Cake.

Easily accessible from the M6 and by train and there are plenty of accommodation options in and around the town but you need to be on your toes as they fill up very quickly over the Mountain Festival weekend.

For info on accommodation and travel, go to www.golakes.co.uk . More accommodation info at Ambleside Online and I Know-Lake District

Kendal is also home to one of Europe's tallest indoor climbing walls, Kendal Climbing Wall (so don't forget to bring your climbing shoes) and a dry ski slope, Kendal Dry Ski Slope.
