After finishing university in 2003 Katie-Jane funded her travels by using her figure to her advantage and developing a career as a catwalk model. In 2005 she met Tarka L'Herpiniere, who was less than impressed with the manicured nails and makeup. It wasn't long however, before Katie quit the glamorous world of modeling and made the gigantic leap to expeditioning. Later that year they traversed the Taklemakan Desert and Northern China to carry out a world first expedition and trekked, on foot and unsupported, 4300km along the Great Wall of China from its most Westerly terminus to its most Easterly. This August they set off to traverse the Southern Patagonia Ice-Cap.
