Kate Rawles works part-time as a senior lecturer in Outdoor Studies at the University of Cumbria and part-time as a freelance outdoor philosopher. She lives in Ulverston and is a keen sea-kayaker and hillwalker as well as a cyclist. Kate writes and lectures widely on environmental issues and is a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Society of Arts
