Zoe Hart

Although she considers herself a climbing 'jack of all trades', alpinism is Zoe's passion.

Based in Chamonix, Zoe takes advantage of conditions as they present themselves - ski mountaineering, alpine or rock climbing - when she's not working as a mountain guide, as she was only the fourth American woman to earn her IFMGA (International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations) badge. Plus juggling family life; Zoe has two young kids with her husband Max, so life has to be flexible; guiding, working for Patagonia, writing, and finishing her masters at Harvard by distance.

Since falling in love with climbing after college, Zoe's CV grew rapidly to include the 1938 Route on the North Face of the Eiger, the first ascent of Cracker Pterodactyl 5000 (VI 5.10+, 900 m) in Oman, the Dru Couloir on the Dru and the Over Couloir on the Brenva Face of Mont Blanc, the Northwest Face of Half Dome in a day, the West Face Couloir on the Aguille Du Plan (ED2, M6, WI5, 700m), the first female ascent of Deprivation, Mt Hunter, Alaska (IV 5.8 A3 AI6), Cryophobia, Ghost, Canada (M8, WI 6, 225m) plus the first ascents of Big Wednesday (VI 6) and Alpine Princess on Ben Nevis.
