Victoria is a fell runner and mountain runner
Victoria was born and bred in Yorkshire, in the small village of Hebden near Grassington in the Yorkshire Dales. At a young age she was involved in fell running, camping holidays in the Lakes and the French Mountains. Her Dad started cycling when he was 13 competing for Great Britain in Cyclocross one of his many achievements was winning the 3 Peaks Cyclocross in 1972. He moved onto fell running once his children were born competing for Kendal and then Bingley Harriers. Races he loved the most were Duddon, Borrowdale and 3 Shires. So this is where Victoria began her running days supporting her Dad. She started running at age 9 and started racing at age 11, her first race being 3 Shires. She continued to race through the School Cross Country Scene and Bofra races before joining Bingley Harriers around 16. In 1992 she ran in her first England Vest age 14. This trend then continued throughout her sporting career, she has yet to have a 12month period where she hasn’t represented her Country. In 1997 she became World Junior Mountain Running Champion, although she hasn’t yet achieved a Senior Individual medal she has been to numerous European and World Championships. On the Fells is where she has become more well known breaking numerous records in classic races from 2mile Burnsall Sports to the 24mile 3Peaks. In the last 18months she has broken some long standing records set in the 80’s including Ben Nevis 2months ago which was then followed up by a Silver Medal in the World Sky Running Championships.
