Nicky began caving as a student in Portsmouth having been inspired by watching one of Sid Perou’s films on TV.
Accustomed to taking a camera everywhere she quickly developed an interest in cave photography.
Now based in the Forest of Dean with caves on the doorstep she has also been on numerous caving expeditions around the world including Spain, Belize, India and Borneo.
She specialises in using minimal equipment and shoots her pictures on the hoof trying to capture the atmosphere of the underground rather than concentrating on the perfect technical shot. This technique has allowed her to photograph some quite remote places without carrying lots of heavy kit. Most recently this included the exploration of the far reaches of the Clearwater Cave System in Mulu, Borneo.
