Slovenian Klemen Premrl started climbing aged 12 and soon found his speciality: ice climbing.
In 1997 on a big trip to Canada he climbed Riptide (WI7), the hardest ice climb achieved by a Slovenian climber. In 1998 he introduced mixed climbing to Slovenia by climbing Bone of Contention (M7). From 1999-2003 he competed in the ice climbing World Cup but then began to focus on longer ice, mixed and alpine routes. In particular he became obsessed with Canada's Helmcken Falls, which in winter becomes a vast overhanging cave covered in spray ice, which he explored along with one of Kendal's old friends Tim Emmett. They most recently established Interstellar Spice, an 80m ice climb that starts up their own route Clash of the Titans before breaking off left and following 28 bolts to a lower off just below the lip of the cave. Overhanging by 40m, Interstellar Spice is described as "A journey through multiple ice roofs, hanging daggers, mushrooms, snow ice, water ice, verglas and general outrageousness."
