Colin Hill is an experienced and visionary open water swimmer and race organiser. He is a successful English Channel Soloist (2009), and also completed a two way Windermere Solo in 2009. Colin is currently World and UK Age Group Champion for 450m Cold Water Swimming, UK Age Group Champion, and will be heading to Finland in March 2013 to defend his title.
In February 2013 Colin became the first UK male to complete the Ice Mile – a one mile swim in less than 5 degrees with no wetsuit. His experience includes being the founder and project manager of the Great Swim series at Nova International (2008 - 2011), being Technical Operations Manager for the Olympic Games Marathon Swimming, London 2012; and in 2013, consulting for both FINA and British Swimming on open water swimming events and concepts as well as setting up his own company, ChillSwim.
In 2012 Colin was voted Open Water Ambassador of the Year by H2Open Magazine, and he is a regular contributor to H2Open and Swimming Times.
Colin is frequently asked to appear on television programmes about open water swimming and recently he was asked to swim across an icy lake in the Austrian mountains for a project on the science of cold water swimming, which should be aired in Europe over the winter of 2013/14.
