BLACK ROCK: From Climbing to Performance
Join us for an exciting panel discussion and film showing of 'Black Rock', a Kendal Mountain Festival commissioned multimedia performance translating the experience of rock climbing to an audience on the ground.
The project explores Johnny Dawes’ first ascent of Indian Face (E9 6C) in Snowdonia and the wider concepts of risk, vertigo, adventure and the physical boundaries between body and rock. Using video projection, environmental sound design, written text and live performers, Black Rock immerses the audiences in a theatrical experience.
Panelists include climber Johnny Dawes, writer Claire Carter, artist David Shearing and Professor Jonathan Pitches.
Jonathan is the Professor of Theatre and Performance at the University of Leeds.
