The second adidas Endurance session at KMF sees us based at the new KMF Adventure Sports Village.
Headlining the event will be the 'Famous Brownlee Brothers' - fresh from their success at London 2012. Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee will give us insights and stories from that famous day in London and what makes them the dominant force in world traithlon. The Dojo will be buzzing!
Hosted by James Thurlow of Open Adventure we venture once again into the world of adventure racing, ultra distance events and endurance athletes admired the world over. We will have the top two British Adventure Racing teams recently returned from an arduous World Championships in France. They have images, film clips and stories to tell from this epic event.
We also feature a presentation by Ultra-marathon expert Andy Mouncey who will present his lecture 'It's Not About The Distance". In this powerful and inspirational presentation Andy uses his experience as an athlete and a coach to make ultra running appear ultra simple. Doing the training gets you to the start line. Andy will lift the lid on the three things that make the difference between a DNF and finishing with pride.
Nick Gracie and Tom Gibbs of 'Team adidas Terrex' will give us a unique insight form the exciting world of adventure racing at the highest level.
PLUS! To celebrate 60 years of Mountain Rescue in the Lakes, Kath Jackson, Martina Pyne and Dave Howarth (all from Kendal MRT) will attempt to circumnavigate their teams’ area boundary in under 24 hours. The threesome will bike, run and kayak the 175km starting from the Endurance Session, continuing through the night and Saturday, and will hopefully finish back at the Kendal Dojo within the 24 hours. The Kendal Rescue Round attempt will be live tracked by GPS, allowing real-time visibility and you’ll be able to check out their progress in the Adventure Sports Village at the Dojo. Total distance: 175km, 4,630m ascent/descent. Four legs: Leg One – Bike 50km, Leg two- Run 76km, Leg three- Kayak 9km, Leg 4- Bike 40km
What a night this will be! All topped off with live music at the Adventure Sports Village.
