THE 2017 FILM COMPETITION
THE 2017 KENDAL MOUNTAIN FESTIVAL FILM COMPETITION IS NOW OPEN.
Kendal Mountain Festival is the UK's premier mountain film festival celebrating adventure, culture and environment. We accept and screen feature and short films on a broad range of subjects. We are always interested in work that focuses on mountains, mountain culture, mountaineering and climbing.
At the heart of the Festival is the International Film Competition, which awards 12 films prizes through an independent jury. There is also 4 Film Active prizes awarded to young filmmakers.
The film competition sees over 250 films submitted each year, which is shortlisted to around 70 with inclusion decided on merit and quality.
Films are screened in 10 venues across Kendal with last year’s totalling 422 screenings over 100 film sessions.
We attract many film premières (World, European or national) every year - the Festival is acknowledged by filmmakers as the foremost opportunity to showcase their latest films and many plan their production schedule for the year around the event.
For 2016, our Film Jury included Paul Diffley, Joanna Croston, Nick Bullock , Natasha Brooks, and was chaired by Keme Nzerem.
